CarbonArmor Stabilized Cracked Basement Wall in Lakewood, OH

Challenge

A homeowner located in Lakewood, OH removed the drywall off of the basement walls and noticed that there were horizontal and leaky cracks. Horizontal cracks can occur for many reasons including foundation settlement and hydrostatic pressure from the outside soil. If not fixed, the leaky cracks could cause further water and structural damage. The customer knew he had to resolve the issue sooner than later. He found that Cleveland Basement Systems was his local waterproofing and foundation repair expert and scheduled a free estimate.

Solution

The inspector arrived to the free estimate and affirmed that the horizontal, leaky cracks needed to be fixed. He advised that the CarbonArmor wall reinforcement system would permanently stabilize the wall while also repairing the cracks. The homeowner was signed up for an install date the same day as the estimate!

On the day of the project, the foundation repair crew arrived and began to install CarbonArmor to all sides of the basement walls. CarbonArmor is made of fiber-reinforced polymer that is 10 times stronger than steel. Additionally, it includes high-strength epoxy resin that absorbs all pressure from the wall. Installation began by grinding down a thin layer of the walls to create a clean surface. Then, the high-strength epoxy is applied to wall. After that, the carbon fiber strap is adhered to the resin. Once dried, the CarbonArmor straps completely resist further bending or cracking of the wall. This project was an efficient, one-day install.
