Fixing Disconnected Downspout in Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Challenge
This customer called in to address flooding issues in her basement. She claimed that every time it would rain that the basement would flood. Bert, an inspector with Cleveland Basement Systems, came out to provide the customer with a free, in-home estimate. Bert pinpointed one of the sources of the problem: ineffective downspouts. Downspouts are vital in protecting a home against water damage. If left unresolved, water can collect around the foundation and allow water to enter the basement.
Solution
Installers arrived on the job and dug up the old downspout that once led to the street. The old pipe was not even connected properly! They replaced the pipe and made sure that it was routed to the road correctly. When installers tried out the finished product, the water moved directly from the downspouts, down the pipes and came out of the outlet that led away from their house. This assured the customer that the next time rain comes through, water will not re-enter their basement. The customers were relieved to have the problem fixed.
