CleanSpace Vent Covers, SilverGlo and RimTite Installed in Crawl Space in Grafton, OH

Challenge

A customer in Grafton, OH wanted to seal and insulate his crawl space in order to create a more energy-efficient home. The crawl space had a vent that allowed all outside air into the crawl space, which was creating moisture problems on the wooden beams. This crawl space also had inefficient foil-faced insulation on only a couple of walls. The other block walls were not insulated with anything which also created polarizing temperatures. Crawl space air moves up into a home and can make up to 50% of the first floor's air. So this customer wanted to also breathe healthier air. This homeowner searched the internet for their local and trusted crawl space repair company and found Cleveland Basement Systems. He was quickly scheduled with a free estimate.

Solution

Bert, the expert inspector, crawled into the crawl space and assessed solutions to fix this poorly insulated and humid area. He determined that SilverGlo insulation, CleanSpace vent covers and RimTite joist insulation would be the perfect solutions. The customer was scheduled with an install date on the same day as his appointment.

On the day of the project, Connor the crew leader, performed an initial walkthrough with the customer to explain what exactly they would be doing, step by step. Then, the installers got to work! First, they installed the SilverGlo rigid foam board on all of the walls of the crawl space. SilverGlo is a radiant barrier that reflects heat back into the crawl space, therefore giving the home ultimate energy-efficiency and savings. This patented product creates a superior R-Value per inch that will never settle or fall off the walls. Next, installers sprayed RimTite joist insulation between the floor joists.
